New Horizons funding keeps seniors active in their communities

OTTAWABattlefords-Lloydminster MP, Hon. Gerry Ritz today congratulated four Battlefords-Lloydminster organizations on being selected for funding under the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).

 

The City of North Battleford, the Town of Macklin, the Cut Knife Senior Association and the Maidstone and District Historical and Cultural Society are among 44 Saskatchewan projects receiving a total of $598,959 this year, as announced by Hon. Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and the Hon. Marjory LeBreton, Leader of the Government in the Senate and Secretary of State for Seniors.

 

“The Government of Canada is proud to support seniors in strengthening our communities and building our country,” says Ritz.

 

The Town of Macklin and District New Horizons Association Inc. will receive $16,800 for its project An Historical Record through the use of a Walking Trail and the City of North Battleford will receive $4,024 for its seniors Yoga on the Go program. The other programs include the Cut Knife Senior Association’s Walking Path Project which will receive $12,672 and the Preserving Our Past for the Future project of the Maidstone and District Historical and Cultural Society which has been awarded $1,800.

 

“This funding ensures that seniors in Battlefords-Lloydminster have the opportunity to participate and take an active leadership role within their communities,” says Ritz.
