REPORT
FROM PARLIAMENT
Canadians
owe a huge debt to the men and women in uniform who served throughout our
history and continue to protect our freedoms and safety today. On November the 11th we gather
together to show our pride and support for our Veterans.
Remembrance
Day, is a time to honour and remember all those who served Canada in times of
war, military conflict and peace. It is
a time to reflect on our freedoms, our culture and democracy so valiantly
defended by our veterans.
Veterans
do not seek glory or honour – because it is already theirs. They seek only remembrance for their comrades
who did not return home. By attending
events on November 11th, Canadians pledge our nations unending
gratitude.
In
commemorating our veterans past service and sacrifice, let us also recognize
the Canadian Armed Forces currently serving in Afghanistan. Canadians appreciate the outstanding
contribution our soldiers have made in foreign countries. We celebrate their courage and dedication as
they fight for our values, guard our rights, defend our freedoms and uphold the
tradition of heroism demonstrated by our veterans.
At
this time of year, all Canadians take the time to remember that freedom comes
at a great cost, that freedom has never been free.
Lest
we forget.
