REPORT FROM PARLIAMENT

As the summer months draw to a close, kids are returning to school, adults are adjusting their work schedules, and farmers are busy in the fields. The end of August also signals that in just a few weeks the Federal Government will be opening its fall session of parliament.

Your Conservative Government, despite the rampant election rumours has spent the summer working on viable solutions to get Canadians through this tough economic time. We’ve helped to stimulate the economy by financing developments in small communities, and putting money into infrastructure projects that provides men, women and young adults with much needed jobs.

We’ve also been focusing on our justice legislation, taking action to ensure the safety and security of our communities. We’ve toughened sentencing for serious gun crimes and for sexual predators and we’ve better protected society from dangerous offenders. Your Conservative Government is proud to stand up for the victims of crime and put the rights of our law-abiding citizens ahead of the rights of criminals.

Your Conservative Government has also been working on a variety of other issues that affect Canadians, for example Employment Insurance, Arctic Sovereignty, H1N1 Flu preparedness, the Vancouver Olympics, and International Trade to name just a few.

The opposition parties are busy trying to decide which bill they will defeat to derail our government and throw Canadians into an unwanted election. Despite this, your Conservative Government remains focused on governing our great country and coming up with practical, pragmatic policies that will ensure that Canada continues to play an important role on the world scene.
